The beginning of Shaw so emotional with both Shaw and Claudia holding onto the thought of reuniting in order to get through the hard times. They've bickered and teased since the beginning and only now, when the chance might be lost, do they realize what they have could be real.

I loved the strength in both Claudia and Shaw and how they learn to lean on each other. Claudia doesn't trust many men since her ex-husband cheated on her so she has no desire to test her feelings with Shaw. But after being captured, Claudia realizes she has some regrets and that includes never taking a chance with the one person who matters the most. Shaw has always been a charmer, but now we got to see his softer, sweeter side as he fights to get Claudia to believe a relationship can be real between them. While previous books have shown Shaw to be a bit of a player who only wants a good time he doesn't hesitate to share his emotions to Claudia and to go all in.

I also liked the new development of Selena and can't wait to see who she'll fall in love with. There was also a lot more of the berserkers in this one and now I really want to read their books!

I love this series. Shaw and Claudia are such hero's. Hell squad is a group of the most interesting, caring and sexy hero's and I am so glad to get a peek at their escapades in each of the books in this series. Thanks Anna!
I could not put it down! I hard to read it straight through to the end. Loved it. Can't wait to read the next one. It could be made into a movie or a TV series (I wish!!). You go Anna!!! Thanks for writing stories about strong women.

As soon as I discovered "Shaw" was available, I purchased and read it in two days (had to take a break for homework!). I REALLY ENJOY the Hell Squad series and this book was no exception. I cannot wait to read "Holmes" and hopefully "Finn" and the rest of the characters (Squad 9 and the Berserkers). I hope there is also more good news on Santha and possibly another surprise pregnancy.
Shaw is a party boy. Loved it all women. Claudia is a soldier. A tough and deadly soldier. They have circled each other for a !it time. Then. Claudia is taken by alien invaders. Shaw and Hell Squad get her back along with a newcomer. I loved this story! It has a lot of action and love.
I was waiting for this one, because.. Shaw. I loved the banter and snarkiness in the other books between Claudia Frost and Shaw and this was their book. I expected a bit more I think, because they admit their feelings rather quick. But you have to take the other installments into consideration I guess and then it is actually the relationship with the most scenes I think.

The reason I love this series is also the overall story arc of the aliens that have invaded Earth and the surviving people that are fighting against them. I was upset that they had to evacuate their home base in the last book and they are in constant danger. I do hope they will find a major solution against the invaders.

The Hell Squad series by Anna Hackett continues with the long awaited installment of Shaw (and Claudia), book number 7 in the series. This couple has been intriguing readers of the series from the first book (Marcus). I think by this point all readers figured out that these two would end up together, what we did not know was how. Well, the "how" was really good and not something we saw coming.

The Hell Squad series is based on the premise that reptile-like aliens have invaded an alternate reality Earth where the city of Sidney, Australia had been the center of international politics and culture. Due to Sidney's place in the world's political stage, there were soldiers from many different cultures and backgrounds stationed there. When the alien's got there, survivors from different military organizations banded together to help protect the remaining people hiding out from the aliens bent of killing them outright or using them for experimentation. Shaw and Claudia are both soldiers in the same squad who had been unconsciously dancing around each other from the beginning. Both are trying to escape demons from their paths in their own way. Shaw is a ladies' man who never lets anyone truly close, while Claudia has closed herself off even more. When Claudia gets captured at the end of the previous book (Noah / book 6), Shaw goes a little off the rails as he begins to realize what she really means to him. Both have some obstacles to overcome before they can come together as a couple, but the result is a beautiful thing to read.

As you can imagine, this book is definitely not a stand-alone book. In fact the entire series is not really stand-alone. One of the strengths of the series is that while each installment focuses on a different couple, the overarching storyline is a driving force that is never neglected. Shaw advances that storyline significantly, while leaving us wondering what will happen next. We know that it will somehow include the story of the survivor's commanding officer Adam, since his story is next in line, but we have no idea where the author will take the overarching storyline because so far Ms. Hackett has managed to keep readers on their toes.

Anna Hackett is an excellent author. She draws you into the story, makes you care about the characters, and always leaves you wanting more while still give you satisfying resolutions for each individual couple. The stories are well written, both in content and form. Both male and female characters are strong and relatable. I definitely recommend this series to anyone interested in Sci-Fi romance. Even if you don't usually read Sci-Fi, the books are worth looking into.
