Stolen Away is a great, fast paced read with magic, romance, action, fantasy and an intriguing fey lore. This book has been on my radar for awhile now, and it definitely does not disappoint. I really enjoyed jumping back into the fey world and I liked what Alyxandra does with her fey mythology. She's does a beautiful job at mixing in fey lore with that of the human world, and the ties they have to each other. I thought she had the perfect amount of fantasy and magical elements to keep her story feeling unique and fun. This was one of those books I sat down to read thinking I'd read a few chapters and get back to cleaning the house, but I ended up reading this in one setting.

I really like that Alyxandra's writing is to the point, well paced, and candidly descriptive. She includes just enough detail to keep me invested in her story, without over saturating it. I loved her fey world. It's beautiful, enchanting and her characters are well written. She does such a great job with the different character's and their interactions whether they're from the fey world, human world, Seelie court or Unseelie court. I found some of her characters, along with their paranormal abilities to be just as fascinating as the story's world building is.

The one thing that did surprise me was the fact the story is actually told from two different points of views. The first from the main character, Eloise and the second from her best friend Jo. I liked that it was done in first person and being from two different points of views worked great for the story, and really allowed Alyxandra to explore two different love interests for each girl. I adored these two girls and being able to get a peek into their close friendship. The romances are great!! I loved the way they were developed and I'm really hoping I get to see more of these two couples in another book.

If you're looking for an enjoyable fey book to read, I highly recommend picking this one up!

I read this for a book club. It was easy to get into and never boring. I really enjoyed it.
If the author left out the cussing the book would be perfect. Good storyline. Similar to other books of this genre. Fast read.

I was so disappointed in this book that I did not even want to Finnish it.to be honest I don't know if it is just the fact that this isn't my type of book or if it the book was just not good. just in case I would read the other reviews before you decide to make your decision.psI won't let this book judge the rest of the books this author has written)
I almost DNF this one. The story was too slow paced most of the time, and the relationships were WAY too fast! They also didn't have biochemistry or any real relationship at all, to be honest. The way the story was written was also completely confusing! It kept switching from one girls POV to the other and made the whole thing really hard to follow....not to mention to slowed the pacing down . So much I started skimming because it was redundant.
I loved Haunting Violet, really liked the Drake Chronicles but was meh about this book. It was pretty good, I just think it left out a lot that could have made the story richer. Like a better description of the different types of faeries. For instance there's a passing comment about redcaps but it doesn't explain how violent they are or how they keep their caps as red. It would have been nice to have more detail about the hunt. Maybe this author should take some times from Laurel K Hamilton but without the sex and intense violence. She describes faeries and their lives in more detail.

The characters seemed underdeveloped and I didn't empathize as much as I would have liked. The British thing annoyed me a lot because there was a part in the book where the character used the terms knackered and bollocks and I wondered if this was one of those British authors masquerading as Americans. Then I reread the reviews here and remembered the brief reference to her British obsession.

I liked it and was glad I read it but it's not going on my list of favorite books.
STOLEN AWAY was an engaging contemporary fantasy with well-developed and interesting characters. It begins with Eloise and her best friends Jo and Devin. Eloise is the quiet one. She's not shy but prefers to watch what's going on. Jo is a flamboyant flirt. Devin is the fantasy geek who helps keep the girls out of trouble.

Both Eloise and Jo meet mysterious boys. Lucas tells Eloise that he is there to protect her but her first opinion is that she mostly needs protection from him. Jo's boy is more mysterious as he shows up occasionally, helps her, and disappears again.

Their town is suffering from a long-lasting drought that threatens Jo's grandparents' farm. It is like summer won't let go this year. Which it won't. Unknown to the kids is that the faery king didn't willingly give up his crown after his seven year term and his actions are causing the weather.

When Eloise is kidnapped and taken to faery, she learns that her mother's twin, her Aunt Antonia, is involved. She fell in love and married the faery king when she was only sixteen. When he refused to give up his throne, more powerful fae managed to make it that Antonia shared the reign for half the year. During the other half of the year she has to hide from the king to preserve her life.

Antonia rescues Eloise but is trapped herself. Eloise gather allies including her friends and fae who want the king gone in order to rescue her aunt.

This was a fun paranormal, alternately told from Eloise and Jo's points of view. I liked the action. I liked the way the world of faery intruded on the normal world. I liked the romance between Eloise and Lucas and Jo and Eldric.
