Not really spoilers, but maybe by my unanswered questions you'll be clued in to more than you want to know.I couldn't believe I looked down at my Kindle and saw that I was 98% finished with the book. There were still a hundred storylines to wrap up, in what, 6 more pages? I feel like the author wasn't sure how to end it all up so she just didn't. The book was AMAZING until it just stopped abruptly. We couldn't even get an epilogue? What happened to, like nearly all the Dome characters?! I was SO ready to hear what the Mothers did! Plus, what's the deal with the Dome and the secret plans that led up to it? And Pressia's dad? Why introduce that at all if it goes nowhere? I don't want to spoil, so I'll be vague...what is with the end of the book deaths? It like they happened quickly, rushed into the story line, but for no real purpose. I wasn't expecting a happy ending, but a hopeful ending is usually what wraps up dystopian books...this was mid-fight with no clear outcome or plan. It was a let down because with no clear leader, I feel like they're just all going to kill each other and no one has a safe place to be. So I'm left feeling that the characters I love are going to be cold, hungry, and miserable for the rest of their lives, assuming they aren't killed.
I just wasn't even sure how to rate this honestly. It was an excellent book but with the way it ended was horrible, because I feel like it ended chapters before it should have...she probably could get a fourth book out of my unanswered questions. I feel really let down right now, but thinking about it, this author does have the habit of leaving A LOT unsaid. There are a lot of characters with whom there is no closure, like Illia (what was with her?!). I guess a few more pages of an epilogue could have turned this around for me.

Burn The Pure Trilogy Book 3 eBook Julianna Baggott Reviews
This was an excellent close to the trilogy! I enjoyed the plot as well as the ways that characters continued to develop. One of the characters, in particular, kept disappointing me - which is the signal of good writing. Baggott made me care about him in the first place and was brave enough to direct him beyond a black and white or a predictable (positive) trajectory. I only wish there were more of these books in the Pure series. The ending didn't feel like an ending at all, and it feels like there's so much more story there to tell.
Dr. Tracy Brower, author of Bring Work to Life by Bringing Life to Work A Guide for Leaders and Organizations
Burn finishes up the Pure trilogy, and like the other two, this one is well written and a page turner. This time we've got Pressia and her friends returning in the "borrowed" airship, only to find that their home is now burning and everything is coming to a head within the Dome, but they now have a possibility of bringing it all down. Partridge has returned to the Dome and is now in charge upon the death of his father, but he's confused and finding out that change isn't quite as easy as he'd thought it would be. Lyda's in the Dome as well, but there are still people in suspension, and Partridge discovers his father's left messages for him even after death. And there's so much more--El Capitan must deal with his feelings for Pressia, as must Bradwell, and people within the Dome aren't sure they even want to change. It's a page turning plot that made me realize how much I love these characters, flaws and all.
Biggest issue with Burn? The hanging plot threads that are never resolved. There are a lot of them, in fact. Not wanting to get spoilery, but a few plot points would be all right, but the amount of items left without resolution is pretty huge. I was surprised that we didn't get to see some big payoffs we'd been anticipating, and even more surprised when I got to the end and realized how many pages were actually spent on things that, in the end, didn't really matter all that much. As an aside, if there was ever a more irritating character than Iralene, I've yet to meet her.
Still, Burn is beautifully written and vivid. I totally love this awkward, warped, confused world and I would love for Ms. Baggott to consider more books in this setting. It's not a pretty book, but none of the three are. What it lacks in physical beauty, however, it more than makes up for in characterizations. When even a small black box can elicit emotional pangs from the reader, you know it's a special series.
I loved the characters for two books, got engrossed into their ash-filled world of dusts and Mothers, was anticipating this finale for weeks. All I can think is, really? This is how their stories end? Is there a fourth book coming out? Because it feels as if this book, this storyline was cut off in the middle of the story. The book has so many great elements, and the feel of the book carries on what the author started in the first two books that I would rate it a 4 or 5. However, the overwhelming emotion that is left at the end is jarring. We've been left out to dry. I don't need nice, tidy endings. I understand and can appreciate the story arc of Partridge. It just feels like I imagine it would've felt if the first book Pure had ended after Pressia left Bradwell's the first time. What happened when she left? Did the OSR find her? Who really is Bradwell? Those answers were revealed as the book went on. Because the story wasn't finished. That's how I feel, this story isn't finished. I don't know if Ms. Baggott is planning a fourth book or not. I do know that I feel bereft, a little disbelieving and disappointed.
