A Dance Through Time Macleod Family Lynn Kurland 9780425179062 Books
This book has a major amount of dialog without the surrounding details and background story. Which was irritating because the dialog was very repetitive and sometimes sickly sweet. If the heroine said "oh, Jamie" one more time, I might have thrown my Kindle across the room. I would have stopped reading it about 100 pages in but I spent $8. For it and thought "maybe it will get better".The premise was good and could have made for a good book but sadly fell short.Tags : A Dance Through Time (Macleod Family) [Lynn Kurland] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. From Lynn Kurland, the New York Times bestselling author of the Nine Kingdom series. Scotland,Lynn Kurland,A Dance Through Time (Macleod Family),Berkley,0425179060,Romance - Fantasy,Historical fiction,Love stories,Scotland;Fiction.,Time travel,Time travel;Fiction.,Women authors;Fiction.,FICTION Fantasy Epic,FICTION Romance Fantasy,FICTION Romance Historical Medieval,FICTION Romance Time Travel,Fiction,Fiction - Romance,Fiction-Romance,FictionRomance - Contemporary,MASS MARKET,Romance - Contemporary,Romance - Time Travel,RomanceGothic,Romance: Gothic,Science fiction,Scotland, romance;historical romance;romance novels;medieval romance;romance books;love;fantasy romance;epic fantasy;science fiction and fantasy;fiction;novels;fiction books;books fiction;epic fantasy books;fantasy novels;romance novel;historical romance books;fantasy books for adults;fantasy book;fantasy fiction;fantasy novel;romance book;romantic novels;fantasy;time travel;medieval;historical;paranormal romance;paranormal;magic;england;supernatural;fairy tales;relationship books;adventure;relationships, romance; time travel; historical romance; medieval; historical; paranormal romance; highlander romance; fantasy romance; science fiction and fantasy; magic; royalty; supernatural; highland romance; adventure; medieval romance; witches; historical romance books; romance novels; fiction; fiction books; romance books; fantasy books for adults; science fiction and fantasy books; england; scottish romance; highland; romantic; love; love story; mystery; relationships; regency; relationship books; fairy tales; vampires; relationship,FICTION Fantasy Epic,FICTION Romance Fantasy,FICTION Romance Historical Medieval,FICTION Romance Time Travel,FictionRomance - Contemporary,Romance - Contemporary,Romance - Time Travel,Fiction - Romance,Scotland,Fiction,Romance: Gothic,Romance: Modern,Science fiction
A Dance Through Time Macleod Family Lynn Kurland 9780425179062 Books Reviews
First book of the Macleod time traveling series sets the stage for the books that follow. Our hero is a great mix of grumbling, loving, some superstition, heroic, with a dash of insecurity who grows as he comes to realize his true feelings for the 20th century Elizabeth. I am currently repurchasing the series on kindle having read it in paperback several times. I think that is sufficient to demonstrate how much I have enjoyed this series.
I first read this book back when it came out, and recently reread it. It really is adorable. The only reason I gave it four stars is because it did lack some historical depth, and at times the characters were inconsistent, including Jamie, who didn’t behave like I would expect for a powerful Highland laird. Still, it is a fun read, and I plan to keep the paperback on my shelf for future enjoyment.
Whenever I'm in the mood for a wholesome time travel romance I find myself reaching for A Dance Through Time. Her novels do tend to fit a particular mold and, I have to admit, the heroines are a tad old fashioned in both colloquialisms and, dare I say, morals. This is, nevertheless, one of my favorites in the romance genre (along with Kurland's Stardust of Yesterday). There is no heat here, simply romance. Somewhat refreshing for this genre.
This book is fantastic if you like Scottish time travel romance and you don't require erotic sex scenes every few pages to keep you interested... This book begins Kurland's Macleod series with Jamie's story. I loved it and have gone on to read many many more of this author's books! Her books are funny, historical, adventurous and keep the pages turning. I recommend them!
As usual, Lynn Kurland takes us to a world of romance and magic in the Highlands. Whether it's someone wandering to close to a fairy ring, or crossing over a threshold to a new century, her stories are escapism for romantics. Lots of feisty reparte between our soul mates, and well-meaning friends and relatives who either work to get them together, or connive to keep them apart! This was an enjoyable way to spend the summer evenings catching up with old friends from newly available Lynn Kurland books! I may just have to re read most of my Favorites, again!
While not everyone will enjoy how fast pace this book is. I for one wish that when they choose to re-new their vows in the 20th century that the wedding could of been a bit slower pace and more descriptive but other than that I love the whole thing greatly.
Elizabeth travel in time from 1996 to the arms of the man of her dreams in fourteenth century Scotland. Considered a witch a first till James planned to have her burned until he came across the articles in her purse and realized that like his brother Patrick that she had travel through time. He tried to help her trough the time gate but most likely their love (the strongest magic of all) was preventing her departure. So for months she past in 1311 including a description of her having her period without the aid of modern products to help her. The two fought a lot as her was unlike any woman he had ever met before with her willful mind that came from having brothers and a dad who were real bears to be with. All is not happy as there are those who want James dead and after the attempt fails and Beth remembers that history stated he did die that year he and Beth makes the time gate work and leave the castle in the hands of her new step son and daughter to run before history is altered. James while a bit skittish about guns and cars takes to the 20th century well including buying his old castle back with he money he brought with him through time and trying to convince Beth family the truth about her husband.
I have read Kurland for years. I am waiting for the other books that aren't on to get there. I think all should be there for everyone to read. Elizabeth Smith lives in New York. She is the only daughter of a Pediatrician. I am not sure what her mother does for a living. She is in New York to write the next best selling romance novel. She meets her current finance at the New York library and get engaged. I think she is engaged because she thinks she needs to be. She is researching all items about Scotland. She gets books on clans of Scotland to help with research. On the night prior to her trip into the past she dreams of a highlander Laird. He is everything she wants in a man. It is not surprising that he is a lot like her brothers and father but a product of his century. She dreams of him and wakes up that next day with the memory. She begins to think that she is dreaming about her characters. However, while she is at her small apartment, she hear her dream lover call to her to come to him. She finds her books and goes to a small public park to read about the highland clans. When she reads about the clans she reads about the clan her dream lover is Laird of in the 14th century. She finds a picture of trees in the book and thinks on it. She thinks on her dream lover. She suddenly find herself in the picture from the book. She becomes frightened and walks out of the woods and find a man who takes her to her dream lover. From there to books become predictable but still a great read. I recommend reading this book for anyone who loves highland Scotland and highlander romance. It a great love story and time travel book
